There are situations in which it at times not possible for you to attend incoming calls, for any reasons. There are also chances that the incoming call may be from your important customer, client, partner, etc. So missing their calls might call impact your impression. But now, in order to receive these calls, you can activate Hunt Group service on small business telephone system. This service is also available on all the Non Geographic numbers (0844 numbers). When the first phone line in your list is busy or there is no answer, then after few rings call will automatically be routed to the next phone line in your hunt group list. If used properly, a Hunt Group ensures that you never miss an inbound call again.

This is how a hunt group works. A hunt group automatically searches all the line extensions in the system and forwards calls from a busy line and to a free line in the extension, for example a 0844 number. After number of unattended rings, each extension will be tried until a free extension is connected. Hunt Group will look for another extension if any particular extension is busy or has marked their extension as blocked from hunting.

A Hunt groups searches in two ways, sequentially or round robin style. In sequential style, hunt always starts with the first extension in the list, and works down. In round robin, hunt distributes the calls evenly amongst the members of the group by rotating the group member whose extension is tried first, then searching down the list in sequential order. You can decide the order in which your destination numbers should ring and how long that they should ring for.
